Civicorps was featured in our partner California Invasive Plant Council’s (Cal-IPC) newsletter, Dispatch. Cal-IPC works closely with Civicorps and other conservation corps in the Bay Area. Cal-IPC brings conservation projects and education together to train Corpsmembers in invasive species management.
Through Cal-IPC training Civicorps conservation crews can undertake various projects related to invasive species management and prevention around the Oakland area. Topics in Cal-IPC education include tool safety, plant ID, preventing plant pathogens and weed seed spread, urban ecology, and fuel load reduction in wildlands. The skills and education taught by Cal-IPC are constantly being built upon as Corpsmembers interact with various invasive species on job sites around the Oakland area.
