In March 2020, answering Governor Newsom’s emergency call to action for California Conservation Corps to respond to the dire increase in food insecurity around the Bay Area, our Corpsmembers worked at food banks in Alameda and Santa Clara counties, helping to produce nearly 2 millions pounds of food in the first few months of the pandemic. Civicorps contracted with the Cal Office of Emergency Services to employ Corpsmembers at the Alameda County Community Food Bank for 40 hours per week. Corpsmembers also served at Second Harvest of Silicon Valley.
[Civicorps has] helped us produce nearly 2 million pounds of food in the three months and that’s enough to feed about 600,000 neighbors. In other words…a huge help!
