E-waste

Since 2015, Civicorps has been partnering with Tri-Valley Recycling to collect E-waste and deliver it to their facilities, where it can be properly repurposed, reused or recycled. Our industry standard truck picks up E-waste from over 100 businesses and institutions every year. Our specialty is coming to businesses directly and collecting all the e-waste – not just the big, valuable items – making it really easy for businesses to properly dispose of harmful materials and preventing them from getting into our landfills and waterways.

We also have partnered with the City of Oakland, Union City and the City of Vallejo to fulfill E-waste collection during free disposal events. We also hold our own E-waste events to support our partners and for the general public. Our onsite collection and event services yield over 150 tons of E-waste per year that might otherwise wind up as landfill.

What is E-waste?

Any electronic devices that you would like to get rid of are potential E-waste. The devices can be in good condition, broken, or non-functioning. Electronic devices may be hazardous for you and the environment because they may contain: Lead, Mercury, Copper, Cadmium, Chromium, Zinc, and other heavy metals. Federal and State law requires that E-waste be discarded differently than traditional recycling, and in California, electronics are banned from going to the landfill.

We understand that recycling these items can be a hassle. Civicorps Recycling can help with our FREE E-waste Collections program. We offer convenient curbside pick-up from your business and also provide E-waste drop-off events hosted at locations throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.
