Director of Community Engagement
JAB first joined Civicorps in 1996 and currently serves as the Director of Community Engagement. He is responsible for building organizational partnerships in East Contra Costa County and deepening our collaborations in Alameda County. He inspires community within Civicorps through Community Meetings and providing leadership opportunities for Corpsmembers through spaces like the Appeal Panel. JAB’s experience ranges from education, service, advising, supporting and advocacy among urban communities in Washington, D.C. and the San Francisco Bay Area. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Afro American Studies at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Afterwards, he earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco. After practicing law for over 16 years, he transitioned to serving juveniles and adults in another arena, providing direct service to participants in youth development and workforce development programs for over 20 years.
